Flax Seeds Laddoo

Flax Seeds Laddoos are power-packed, wholesome sweets made with a thoughtful blend of seeds, nuts, grains, and natural sweeteners. Ingredients

  • 1 cup flax seeds (alsi)

  • 1½ cups jaggery, chopped

  • ½ cup raw peanuts

  • ½ cup almonds

  • ½ cup grated dried coconut

  • ½ cup oats

  • ¼ cup white sesame seeds

  • 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds

  • 2 tablespoons garden cress seeds (aliv / halim)

  • 1 teaspoon green cardamom powder

  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg powder

  • 1 tablespoon ghee (plus extra for greasing)


Method

Step 1: Prepare the Jaggery Syrup

  1. Heat a non-stick pan.

  2. Add chopped jaggery and ¼ cup water.

  3. Cook until the syrup reaches one-string consistency.

  4. Turn off the heat and keep warm.


Step 2: Dry Roast the Ingredients

  1. Dry roast flax seeds on medium heat for 1–2 minutes. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool.

  2. In the same pan, dry roast raw peanuts for 2–3 minutes. Transfer to the same plate.

  3. Dry roast almonds for 2–3 minutes and add to the plate.

  4. Dry roast dried coconut and oats together for 1–2 minutes. Transfer and cool.

  5. Dry roast white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, and garden cress seeds together for 1–2 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool.


Step 3: Grind & Combine

  1. Transfer the roasted flax seeds, peanuts, almonds, coconut, and oats into a blender.

  2. Grind to a coarse powder.

  3. Add this mixture to the bowl containing roasted sesame and garden cress seeds.

  4. Add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, and warm jaggery syrup.

  5. Add 1 tablespoon ghee and mix thoroughly until well combined.


Step 4: Shape the Laddoos

  1. Grease your palms lightly with ghee.

  2. While the mixture is still warm, divide into equal portions.

  3. Shape into smooth, round laddoos by pressing gently between your palms.


Step 5: Cool & Store

  • Arrange laddoos on a platter and allow them to cool completely.

  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.


Storage

  • Keeps well for 2–3 weeks when stored in an airtight container at room temperature.


Tips & Variations

  • For a vegan version, replace ghee with cold-pressed coconut oil.

  • Dates paste may be used instead of jaggery for a refined-sugar-free option.

  • Ideal as a nutritious snack, post-meal sweet, or energy bite.
