Fruit Salad (Fruit Chaat)


A refreshing, colorful fruit chaat with a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges, peeled and segmented, each slice cut in half

  • 1 apple, peeled and cubed into ½-inch pieces

  • 1 firm banana, sliced into ¼-inch rounds

  • ½ cup strawberries, sliced

  • 1 cup English or Asian cucumber, cubed into ¼-inch pieces

  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro (coriander leaves), chopped

Dressing

  • Approximately 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • Approximately 1 tablespoon fresh ginger juice

  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin seed powder

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black salt (optional)

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all the fruits and cucumber.

  2. Add the green chili (if using) and chopped cilantro.

  3. Gently toss the mixture and set aside.

  4. In a small bowl, mix all the dressing ingredients until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  5. Just before serving, pour the dressing over the fruit mixture and toss gently to coat evenly.

  6. Serve immediately for best flavor and freshness.

Tips

  • You can use a variety of seasonal fruits in this chaat.

  • Oranges and bananas are always recommended, as they add vibrant color, natural sweetness, and a pleasant texture to the dish.
